The Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, released the export of textiles and textile products of PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (PT Sritex) as many as 50 containers. Textile products will be exported to 20 countries with a value of USD 3.7 million. Zulkifli said the export momentum this time was a sign that the Indonesian textile and textile product industry was starting to move and rise in the midst of the national economic recovery after the pandemic. "The release of this export is a momentum in encouraging economic recovery and the revival of the Indonesian textile industry," said Zulkifli, Thursday (15/9).
Zulkifli also said that the exported textile products include garments, finished fabrics, and yarns with export destinations to 20 countries in the world such as Sweden, Thailand, Malaysia, Brazil, Bangladesh, Portugal, Poland, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Mexico, Japan, Argentina, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Turkey, Spain, India, United States of America and Qatar.
On that occasion, Zulkifli also said that Indonesia was the 16th country as an exporter of textiles and textile products with a market share of 1.44 percent in 2021.
During this period, exports of Indonesian textiles and textile products experienced a significant growth compared to the previous year.
"In 2021, the export value of Indonesian textile products will record a value of USD 12.9 billion, an increase of 25.52 percent compared to 2020 which was recorded at USD 10.5 billion," he said.
In addition, several destination countries for Indonesian textile exports also experienced significant growth. The five countries with significant increases were Honduras up 140 percent, Sweden 58.8 percent, Mexico 49.1 percent, Bangladesh up 46.6 percent, and Canada 44.3 percent.
"This shows the performance of Indonesian textile exports to the world continues to increase in value and is able to take advantage of world market opportunities, especially non-traditional export destination countries," said Zulkifli.
