The Polish Textile and Indonesian Batik Exhibition (POLA) showcases the diversity of contemporary Polish textile art as well as Indonesian arts and culture represented by batik artworks. "This exhibition is the first show in the history of diplomatic relations between Poland and Indonesia," said exhibition curator Joanna Waclawek in a press statement at the Polish Embassy in Indonesia, Jakarta, Friday.

Through the exhibition, visitors are invited to get to know about fiber fabrics made in Poland, as well as the variety of ideas used and chosen by the artists.

Two Polish artists, Anna Goebel and Jolanta Rudzkahabisiak, along with one of the curators and animators of Indonesian culture, Bambang Witjaksono, were on the jury for the exhibition.

The judges selected works by 35 Polish artists featuring natural polyphonic works of Polish fiber art.

It was also stated that one of the aims of the exhibition was to show a number of these works in Jakarta as part of the elements of Polish culture that cannot be separated from its history and art.

Some of the works feature historical streaks, including those during World War II, while others depict Polish society and communities.

The exhibition runs from 4 to 30 October at the Jakarta National Museum which is also a strategic partner of the exhibition and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Jakarta.
