Director of Export Development of Creative Services and Products at the Ministry of Trade Miftah Farid said the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week event was an effort to strengthen the fashion ecosystem in Indonesia so that the dream of becoming the world's Muslim fashion center could be realized. "The ecosystem approach is important because we aspire to be the center of the world's Muslim fashion," Miftah said at the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week online press conference, Tuesday. Miftah explained that JMFW is part of the Muslim fashion development ecosystem that aims to promote Indonesian Muslim fashion products.
On the other hand, this event also aims to increase Indonesia's competitiveness in the international market, including making Indonesia the center of world Muslim fashion.
Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week, an initiative from the Ministry of Trade and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be held on 20-22 October 2022 in conjunction with the 37th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City Tangerang, Banten.
Miftah said this event will feature fashion shows, trade shows and talk shows involving fashion industry players, fashion brands, accessories and cosmetics to textile companies. With more than 100 participating brands, Miftah hopes that the JMFW will be attended by thousands of visitors, including people who attend the annual Trade Expo Indonesia trade fair.
"The implementation of this JMFW is back to back with TEI, this year we are collaborating with the regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the textile industry, so that what we embrace truly reflects the potential in the region," he said.
Not only that, JMFW also collaborated with academics for incubation and workshops which he said were important to prepare high quality products.
He hopes that Indonesian fashion actors can take advantage of the opportunity to introduce products to a wider community through this event, including introducing the potential of Indonesian fashion to international buyers.
"We have coordinated with foreign trade representatives to invite buyers from the fashion, cosmetics, accessories and textile sectors," he said.
"We are really preparing JMFW to introduce our best products to international buyers."
It is planned that JMFW will be opened by the Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and present talks from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, business matching, the Miss Grand International fashion show and the Vocational Ministry of Education and Culture to collaborations with Muslim fashion brands.
