The Industrial Human Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry through its work unit, the Academy of Textile and Textile Product Industry Community (AK-Textile) Solo opened a competency improvement program for people with disabilities. That is equivalent to diploma 1 (D1) Garment Industrial Engineering (IE) Skills training. The opening of the program was marked by the handover of uniforms to students with disabilities D1 Garment Industrial Engineering Expertise at Building B AK-Textile Solo, Monday (10/10).
Director of AK-Textile Solo Ahmad Wimbo Helvianto said that the D1 IE Garment equivalent program was opened in response to the demand for the garment industry, as well as the application of the mandate of Law No. better job position.
“Hopefully the government will also be here, not just industry. So the government is involved through AK-Textile Solo and BPSDMI to improve the ability of industrial workers, that's the main thing," he said.
The learning program is carried out for 12 months. Divided into theoretical learning sessions, practical in campus workshops, industrial internships, and finally work placements. The process is divided into three theoretical months, the next three months are practical on campus. Then, the next six months are carried out in the industry.
“This program can adapt to industry needs and is financed by the state through BPSDMI. When asked about the type of disability needs, it is returned to the industry. In accordance with discussions with partner industries, currently only the deaf and the physically impaired,” explained Wimbo.
Currently, as many as 25 students with disabilities have passed the selection to be able to take part in a training program equivalent to D1 Garment Industrial Engineering (IE) at AK-Textile Solo. With assistance from expert lecturers, students with disabilities are trained to become professional workers in their fields.
Meanwhile, today's program opening ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Harisson Bantu Silaen Center, Central Java Indonesian Textile Association (API) Liliek Setiawan, Director of AK-Textile Solo Ahmad Wimbo Helvianto, Owner of PT Globalindo Intimates Teti Yani Hartono, PT Panbrother Tbk Reza Zamzami, AK-Textile Solo teaching staff, and program participants.
