The prices of polyester and cotton fabrics are currently on an upward trend as stocks from producers are running low.In addition, the two types of cloth are goods that must be imported from abroad, aka imported.

This was expressed by the textile business actor, Agus Hidayat. To get these fabrics, he said, factories in Indonesia must wait for goods from producing countries.

"Polyester is made from spandex yarn, and the countries in charge are China and America," said Agus.

“Petroleum also contributes to the price of the cloth. Now oil is expensive. And also, if the dollar increases, the more expensive the cloth will be, ”he added.

According to Agus, who is also the owner of CV. Adika Mandiri in the Cigondewah Textile Zone, to produce these fabrics independently, Indonesia is currently unable to match the quality of fabrics produced by the two superpowers.

"I have been in the textile industry for a long time, so I understand the quality of fabrics. For fabrics made in this country, the quality is still below but the price is expensive. Unlike the imported ones. The quality is good and the price is not high, "he said.

“It's polyester fabric, cotton fabric is the same. The producing country is India. Their fabrics are fine, "he added.

Currently, the price of spandex fabric that is sold at Agus's CV is around Rp. 250 thousand. In fact, before entering the end of March the price of the cloth was only around Rp 70 thousand. This means that the increase in spandex fabric has reached nearly 350 percent.

Furthermore, Agus said the demand for fabrics in the market today is not that high. Yet according to the laws of economic theory, the price of goods rises due to high demand where supplies are few.

But what is happening today, said Agus, is that people's demand for fabrics tends to be normal and supplies from producers are decreasing.

"If I expect it, there are those who hold things first. Only later will it be distributed massively, "he said.

Agus also got around selling fabrics by offering them to convection services. In this way the flow of goods can flow more fluidly.

"Because right now the people are not in the mood for maybe buying cloth, so I overcome this by going down the mountain offering to convection actors. Alhamdulliah, this can help pay for employee salaries, "he said.
