Hundreds of workers at a textile factory in Puwosuman Village, Masaran District, Sragen went on strike. Because of this, they refused to be transferred, allegedly as an effort to reduce the number of employees. Head of the Manpower Office (Disnaker) of Sragen Regency, Muh Yulianto, said that around 250 workers of PT Bintang Asahi Textile Industry (BATI), since Wednesday (23/11/2022). Currently, this problem is being resolved bipartitely. "We encourage settlement by deliberation, the important thing is conducive. A bipartite settlement is being sought between the workers and the company, we hope it can be completed," he said, Thursday (24/11/2022).

One of the PT BATI workers who took part in the mass strike, Hartini (47) admitted that she had been working since 1999. She admitted that she was trying to claim her rights as a worker.

The company seems to want to reduce permanent employees like us who have worked for 20 years by being transferred to another department. The other part is not our realm and expertise. If you don't use it, then you can stay at home, according to the regulations in force," he said.

Hartini said employees and the company had negotiated severance pay. Workers want severance pay using the salary formula multiplied by years of service, so that a figure of Rp. 15 million-Rp. 20 million is obtained.

"But the company offered only Rp. 6 million, we did not accept it," explained Hartini.

Another worker, Sisilia Tumiyem (62), said something different. He admitted that he had applied for a pension but had not been accepted by the company. He admitted that he wanted to be called by the company, but until Wednesday (23/11/2022) he had not been called.

The employee representative who negotiated with the company, Edi, said that in the end the company did not carry out the transfer. Permanent workers were rehired.
