Sustainable rayon fiber producer, Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) received the National Lighthouse Industry 4.0 award from the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin). The company is considered a company capable of being a role model in the transformation and technology of Industry 4.0 in Indonesia. Prior to receiving this award, APR was listed as an efficient company in implementing Industry 4.0 through the INDI (Indonesia Industry 4.0 Readiness Index) 4.0 award in 2020. Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Dody Widodo, handed over the National Lighthouse Industry 4.0 award to APR Director Basrie Kamba at the Ministry of Industry, Tuesday (6/12/2022).
Basrie explained, the National Lighthouse 4.0 award was the Government's appreciation for APR, as well as an award for the Textile and Textile Product (TPT) industry in Indonesia. "APR will continue to innovate to become an efficient and sustainable industrial player as well as a textile catalyst in Indonesia by optimizing technology in our operations," he said after receiving the award.
According to the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap, the industrial world is expected to be able to transform industry 4.0 to increase competitiveness through performance efficiency and effectiveness. The National Lighthouse company also has a vital role in encouraging similar industries in Indonesia to support the achievement of Net Zero Emissions by 2060.
Specifically, the achievement of this award is based on the Ministry of Industry's assessment of the traceability and transparency aspects of the APR supply chain, the implementation of new and renewable energy in operational activities. As well as the integrated use of application-based technology in terms of operations, logistics, human resources to produce quality rayon fiber products.
One of the use cases that has become the advantage of a company operating in Pangkalan Kerinci, Riau Province is the implementation of follow our fiber. Launched in 2019, this blockchain-based platform provides transparency and sustainable sourcing traceability in APR's viscose-rayon production supply chain. "That way, consumers can ensure for themselves that the fiber in the clothes they wear has been managed in a sustainable, legal and sustainable manner," said Basri.
Meanwhile, APR continues to reinforce its commitment to supporting the implementation of industry 4.0 through its ongoing commitment, namely APR2030 which was launched at the end of 2021. Through APR2030, he explained, his party is committed to making a positive contribution to climate, nature, clean manufacturing, as well as circularity and inclusive progress. APR2030 consists of four main pillars with 19 specific targets to be achieved by 2030.
"A number of APR's main targets are to ensure that 20 percent of the total production of viscose fiber (VSF) is made from recycled materials and reduce half of the intensity of carbon emissions per ton of VSF," said Basrie.
APR is also committed to achieving net zero emissions from land use that is integrated with APRIL Group, as a supplier who is also an affiliate of the company, as well as increasing the share of clean and renewable energy for factory needs up to 100%.
Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Industry Dody Widodo emphasized that Making Indonesia 4.0 will accelerate the achievement of Indonesia's aspirations to become the 10th largest economy in the world by 2030. By encouraging the use of this transformation, the industry will also be able to contribute to meeting the national greenhouse gas emission reduction target.
"Based on survey reports on 27 industries, 'Champion INDI 4.0' has reported positive achievements in the transformation of industry 4.0, such as a 40% reduction in energy consumption, an increase in productivity of up to 22%, and a reduction in production costs of up to 78%," said Dody.
Apart from APR, 8 other companies have also been awarded the National Lighthouse 2022 award. On that occasion, the Ministry of Industry also handed over the INDI 4.0 Award 2022 to 31 companies in Indonesia.
