The textile industry is expected to soon grow in the global trade sector. However, business actors admit that they have not felt this way. Chairman of the Indonesian Footwear Association (Aprisindo) Firnan Bakrie revealed that his party estimates that the export market for the footwear industry will still be under pressure in 2023. "It is estimated that in 2023 the export market will still be under pressure," said Firman Wednesday (15/2/2023). According to him, until now his party believes the decline in export demand will still occur until 2023. "The average decline in demand in 2023 will reach 40 percent," added Firman.

This decline in export demand, said Firman, had occurred from the third quarter of 2022 with the same percentage, around 40 to 50 percent.

Even though the footwear industry posted export growth of up to 25.02 percent. According to Firman, this happened because at the beginning of the year, to be precise in the first and second quarters of 2022, the industry experienced a high expansion compared to 2021.

"Because the expansion of footwear from 2021 to early 2022 in the first quarter and second quarter was very high, so it was closed with an export growth of 25.02 percent," he explained.

Previously, the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, revealed that he believed the two industries, which had many layoffs in 2022, would recover soon in the second quarter of 2023.

This is because, according to Agus, the weakening of the world economy due to geopolitical instability will soon improve, so that the export markets for the TPT industry and the footwear industry which were previously chaotic will regain their grip.

"Our calculations are around the quarter from 2023 so the market will reshape," Agus told reporters at the DPR Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/2/2023).

According to Agus, these two industries have seen growth even though last January, there was still a contraction as previously announced by the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).
