The famous Indonesian fashion week, Indonesian Fashion Week, will indeed continue until February 26. This national fashion exhibition also presents various works from various brands and fashion designers. One of the collections of Indonesian literature displayed is the collection of Lady Fastro designer Bella Burhan who collaborated with Dekranasda Batang Hari Regency, to highlight the potential of textiles and batik motifs in Batang Hari Regency, Jambi. Bella Burhan also revealed the meaning behind the naming of the collection with Lady Fashtro.
"This means that Lady is inspired by the elegant Lady Diana, for Fashtro it's Fashion Transformation so that the collections shown are more modern and attract more young people," said Bella Burhan at JCC Senayan, Jakarta.
Through Lady Fashtro, Bella Burhan wants to display the concept of ethnic clothing with batik cloth but appear more modern and dynamic in a touch of a palette of natural colors such as sundial and verdigris. The batik motifs used this time are original Batang Hari district motifs such as the rubber leaf motif and the bungo tanjung motif.
However, he chose to use a batik fabric made from silk cotton, in order to make this dress appear more elegant. Bella Burhan explained that the choice of the rubber leaf and bungo tanjung motifs is because they are a characteristic of the Jambi region, especially rubber being an abundant commodity in Jambi.
"The motif is rubber leaves and bungo tanjung, rubber is a commodity that is abundant in Jambi," explained Bella.
The head of Dekranasda Batang Hari Regency, Zulva Fadhil, also said that the choice of Jambi batik with rubber leaf and bungo tanjung motifs was because Jambi batik was still not popular, so it needed to be promoted so that it would become more widely known, which would also have an impact on the progress of local craftsmen.
"We consider that batik is not very well known so that with this opportunity it can be recognized globally. I also want to invite you to start loving local products, start using MSME products and local craftsmen," said Zulva Fadhil.
Through this collection, Bella Burhan hopes to be accepted and known more widely by the people of Indonesia, as well as being able to reach millennials with a more modern look, while continuing to promote Indonesian literature such as Jambi batik.
