Garment and textile products as well as beauty dominate the delivery of goods and packages from Solo and its surroundings. The peak volume of goods and package shipments is expected to jump 40-50 percent in the middle of Ramadan. The woman who is familiarly called Rini said that cosmetics are goods that are also often sent outside the region. This is supported by changes in the behavior of people who often spend their money in marketplaces, e-commerce or online shops.
Rini estimates that the increase in the volume of goods or package shipments will spike sharply by up to 50 percent in the mid to close to Idul Fitri. "Compared to the same period in 2022, the volume of shipments of goods or packages during Ramadan and Eid 2023 will be much larger. The economic condition has recovered, economic activity is already alive and well," he said.
Furthermore, Rini conveyed that the average number of goods and packages delivered on normal days is around 3.5 tons per day. Approaching Eid al-Fitr, the volume of goods and packages shipped up to over five tonnes per day.
Meanwhile, a warehouse administration officer at PT Karya Indah Buana (KIB) Fast Solo Branch, Sasongko, said textiles and garments ranked first in the delivery of goods or packages. During Ramadan, parcel shipments are expected to expand closer to Eid. The Lebaran parcels are in the form of cakes and dry bread.
Currently, shipments of goods and packages have started to increase by up to 20 percent at the beginning of the fasting month. "Textiles, cosmetics and parcels are often sent by the public during the Ramadan and Eid periods. Most are still in Java. Indeed there are those who send to Sumatra and Kalimantan but only a few," he said.
