The Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, said the government had decided to return control of imported goods from the post-border to the border to tighten the flow of incoming goods. Please note, the post border system is a control outside the customs area and has been circulating in the community, supervised by the relevant ministries/institutions. Meanwhile, the border system is supervision by officers from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in the customs area before goods circulate to the public. Zulkifli said that returning control to the border was the government's commitment to supporting domestic industry, including the fashion industry.
Therefore, the entry of imported goods needs to be carefully monitored by returning control from post-border to border for a number of products.
"The post-border was returned to the border so that supervision was tighter," said Zulkifli in his written statement, Tuesday (24/10/2023).
He is optimistic that the Indonesian fashion industry can enter the global fashion arena. Moreover, Indonesia has a Muslim fashion industry which is being taken seriously by the government together with fashion activists in the country.
"To build a competitive Indonesian fashion sector, of course the key word is collaboration. "The government is here to synergize with stakeholders in the fashion sector in making Indonesia the center of world fashion," he said.
Apart from that, Zulhas added, currently online buying and selling activities cannot be avoided. For this reason, the government is organizing electronic commerce or e-commerce platforms with social commerce so that each can support each other, including supporting domestic business actors.
Furthermore, one of the government's supports for domestic business actors is through the largest trade exhibition in Indonesia, namely the 38th Trade Expo Indonesia, whose physical exhibition just closed on Sunday (22/10/2023).
He pointed out TEI's role in supporting the marketing of domestic products to international markets. This can be seen from the total potential transactions for the 38th TEI physical exhibition which amounted to 25.3 billion US dollars or has exceeded the target of 11 billion US dollars.
On the sidelines of the TEI event, there was the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 202 exhibition. The results of JMFW 2024 were in the form of potential transactions reaching 20.1 million US dollars or around Rp. 300 billion.
"This indicates Indonesia's success in showing the quality of modest fashion and Indonesian Muslim fashion in the eyes of the world," he said.
