Asia Pacific Rayon (APR), a leading producer of viscose-rayon fibers worldwide, showcased its sustainable textile products at the 18th Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition (DTG) held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from February 1st to 4th, 2024. The APR booth at DTG 2024 featured a range of sustainable viscose and lyocell products, including fibers, yarns, clothing, and household textiles. Participating in DTG for the second consecutive time, APR aimed to demonstrate its commitment to Bangladesh's rapidly growing textile industry and meet the increasing demand for sustainable fashion solutions.

"Bangladesh is a growth hub and one of APR's key markets. Over the past five years, Bangladesh has become APR's second-largest market after Indonesia," said Tapan Sannigrahi, Vice President of Marketing and Downstream Development at APR, on Friday, February 2nd.

The textile sector significantly contributes to Bangladesh's economic growth, ranking second as the largest exporter of textiles and garments and being one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia.

"Currently, we hold a 55 percent market share of viscose fiber in Bangladesh and actively introduce lyocell as a sustainable textile alternative," he further explained.

APR collaborates with leading textile companies in Bangladesh to support the industry's development while promoting the use of viscose and lyocell as environmentally friendly options.

"Viscose is the fastest-growing fiber used in Bangladesh's textile industry. Due to its easy dyeing properties, viscose helps manufacturers reduce energy and water consumption during clothing production. Additionally, its full biodegradability emphasizes its eco-friendly nature," added Sannigrahi.

Headquartered in Jakarta, APR is a member of the Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) group, a natural resource-based manufacturing conglomerate. APR operates the Asia Pacific Yarn (APY), an advanced downstream yarn spinning facility with a capacity of 7,800 tons.

"While we continue to strive for a significant position in yarn sales, we have achieved satisfactory results in the market. APR's high-quality viscose rayon fibers and yarns are sold to yarn spinners, fabric manufacturers, and clothing producers across Indonesia and 16 markets, including Bangladesh, Turkey, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam," he further stated.

APR is dedicated to driving positive change in the textile industry by advocating for circularity and responsible manufacturing, aligned with the transition towards a more sustainable textile industry in Bangladesh and worldwide.

APR is fully committed to sustainability. In November 2021, the company launched the APR2030 sustainability agenda, consisting of four main pillars: focusing on positive climate and nature impacts, clean manufacturing, circularity, and inclusive communities.
