The strategy of convection entrepreneurs in the textile industrial area in Grinding, Cakung, East Jakarta, swerved by producing personal protective equipment (PPE) turned out to be fruitless The production of PPE for health workers (nakes) should be a solution for them in the midst of declining demand for stitches due to the impact of Covid-19.
Adeng, one of the convection entrepreneurs in the Milling area, revealed that the sweet profit from the production of PPE only lasted for a moment, namely when Covid-19 first entered the country (early 2020).
"Just at the beginning, it just went up like that (Covid-19) right. We produce masks and PPE," said Adeng.
Adeng admitted that at that time he received a request for 500 PPE. However, until now Adeng has never again received PPE orders.
"So now the demand has gone down (demand)," added Adeng.
Adeng said, the declining demand for PPE was not only felt by him, but also his fellow convection entrepreneurs.
"In the beginning, there were many who produced, but now there are only a few people," he said.
In addition, the rising number of Covid-19 in Jakarta, which should have been a momentum for Adeng to get a request for PPE, is in fact not at all.
"In fact, in Jakarta, there is an increase, but there is no demand for (PPE)," he said.
It is known that when Covid-19 entered Indonesia, PPE clothes became the main equipment for health workers, to be protected from virus transmission when treating patients. Therefore there are many convection entrepreneurs who try their luck by producing PPE.
