The textile and textile product (TPT) industry expects the government to make preparations in advance, namely by synchronizing policies before levying carbon taxes.

Secretary General of the Indonesian Filament Yarn and Fiber Producers Association (APSyFI) Redma Gita Wirawasta said that in the future, industry players will also realize the importance of reducing carbon emissions. This is in accordance with the demands of buyers who are oriented towards renewable energy.

According to Redma, currently, the readiness for producers with export-oriented products, especially to Japan and Europe, is quite good.

"We also realize that there are European commitments in which 2050 if we don't comply with our products, we can't go there. However, the problem is still synchronization between the government's own policies," he said.

Redma gave an example of one of the most basic things, namely the provisions on waste, where industrial fly ash bottom ash (Faba) is categorized as hazardous and toxic waste or B3. The reason is, in other countries Faba is not included in B3.

As a result, by calculation, the composition of Indonesia's waste production is still very high today. Therefore, he considered that the government should first align policies between its ministries.

"So it's not just the tax itself, the environment itself, while there are components here that don't count as waste in other countries. The fall of industries that are always said to be uncompetitive," he said.
