The National Labor Union (SPN) PT Pan Brothers Tbk (PBRX) asked Maybank to consider restructuring the company's debt. If the debt restructuring of the garment company is considered, it is hoped that Maybank will no longer proceed with the application for Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU).

Rukati, Chair of SPN Pan Brothers, said that Maybank considers this step to be implemented considering the current conditions have adversely affected the fate of thousands of company employees and their families as well as the socio-economic impact of thousands of people in the company's environment.

Furthermore, Rukati revealed, Pan Brothers is a labor-intensive industry that has been operating for more than 40 years. Pan Brothers is the largest export-oriented garment company in Indonesia that contributes to the country's foreign exchange earnings and is committed to continuously attracting buyers to entrust their products to be produced in Indonesia.

Therefore, according to Rukati, SPN Pan Brothers as a working partner representing the company's employees will continue to fully support the business continuity of Pan Brothers as a labor-intensive industry with more than 31,000 factory workers in Tangerang-Banten, West Java and Central Java.

According to Rukati, Maybank's PKPU application submitted to Pan Brothers was deemed inappropriate because it would adversely affect the company's operational continuity and the survival of more than 31,000 thousand workers and their families.

Since the beginning of 2020, Pan Brothers has been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, but the company has tried not to reduce workers. However, since mid-2020, the company has experienced difficulties in working capital due to the freezing of banking facilities, one of which was carried out by Maybank. In fact, based on available information, Maybank has been working with Pan Brothers for ± 20 years.

So far, Pan Brothers is a labor-intensive industry that absorbs thousands of workers to reduce the unemployment rate. If given the space to continue to grow and develop, Pan Brothers will absorb more Indonesian workers. This is in line with the SPN resolution campaign to fight for Job Security, Income Security and Social Security Security.

Rukati said, SPN Pan Brothers also asked the government to provide support in the form of banking policies and regulations to the business world, especially labor-intensive industries, which are currently experiencing difficulties with working capital from banking facilities due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, SPN Pan Brothers also requests the Panel of Judges of the Commercial Court at the Central Jakarta District Court to reject Maybank's PKPU application against Pan Brothers for the survival of more than 31,000 workers and their families.
