Business people in Indonesia have transformed their operations over the past few years through Industry 4.0.

However, now the role of Industry 4.0 is becoming increasingly crucial due to the COVID-19 crisis that hit the world.

The pandemic has highlighted the improvements needed to Indonesia's supply chains, tested the resilience of manufacturing processes to stress the importance of digitization for industry.

According to a McKinsey survey, 94 percent of respondents said Industry 4.0 had helped them to keep operations running during the crisis, and 56 percent said technology had become an important part of their crisis management.

Manufacturers that utilize digital solutions are considered to be able to overcome the storm of crisis, and run faster and farther than their competitors during the pandemic.

Melina Marpaung, Senior Executive, Zilingo Indonesia said, “The global pandemic has disrupted operational production processes and working methods in general. By relying on digital systems as the main way of working, smart factories can not only help through future disruptions, but can also increase efficiency and effectiveness today.”

Through the Zilingo Factory solution, explained Melina, Zilingo is ready to support Indonesian manufacturers in implementing a digital manufacturing system.

"Through this solution, manufacturers can also control quality and track production digitally with a simple application and have in-depth analysis for management," he added.

Zilingo Factory is an end-to-end solution for apparel manufacturing with programs that can be personalized for each department.

Through the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Indonesian manufacturers can access certain styles or purchase orders and analyze production status directly; track defects and improve efficiency by identifying the source of defects using the Live Heatmaps feature; track WIP in real-time and maintain smooth flow of materials between departments.

In addition, it also helps track orders across all factory production lines, from material cutting to packaging as well as proactively planning, predicting and resolving bottlenecks in order completion.

Currently the Zilingo Factory platform has four main components available to create smart factories in Indonesia, namely:

1. Factory Admin:

Upload customizable production plans, request data and silhouette packages with ease. Manage WIP operations, shift times and work schedules.

2. Tablet based apps:

An application with a traffic light system to make it easier for business operators to know the status of an item. Designed to be easy to use with short training. Can work offline.

3. TV Dashboard & Reports:

Provides visibility of daily targets, KPIs and quality analysis to field operators and production heads. Businesses can download more than 40 industry standard reports.

4. Web & Mobile Apps:

Check production status and factory area quality in real-time which includes buyer, PO, department and production line information. Business people can also analyze trends up to 90 days.

“Our platform relies on technology to generate data-science-based alerts and anomaly detection to help factories become more efficient. Business people can take advantage of the MES software to factory partners. Factory partners, on the other hand, will provide data to business people regarding efficiency, waste, and production timelines," concluded Melina
