Policies for handling the Covid-19 pandemic have an impact on the Indonesian economy. Small to large business sectors are also affected. Not a few businesses went bankrupt and the company laid off their employees.

Few can survive in this difficult situation, one of which is PT Kahatex, a textile factory located in Sumedang Regency, West Java.

This giant textile factory in West Java was able to withstand the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The company's management admitted that they had not laid off their employees during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"During the Covid-19 pandemic, no PT Kahatex employees were laid off," said PT Kahatex Marketing Manager, Rudy Limawan during the Covid-19 vaccination at PT. Kahatex, Jalan Bandung-Garut, Sumedang Regency, Thursday (5/8/2021).

Rudy said, to anticipate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, his party admitted to collaborating with labor unions and trying to divide the working hours of employees.

"We collaborate with labor unions. If employees usually work five days a week, we withdraw it to seven days because to avoid crowds according to PPKM rules, and we also try to keep employees working in shifts," he said.

Rudy said 70 percent of PT Kahatex's employees had undergone the Covid-19 vaccination. Coupled with mass vaccinations held by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers Union (KSPSI).

"The total employees of PT Kahatex are 55 thousand people, and here (PT Kahatex Sumedang) there are 30 thousand employees," he said.

He said the textile company had prepared a strategy to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Our strategy, all employees who work and employees who are undergoing self-isolation are all paid," said Rudy, adding.

Even so, Rudy added, his company's production decreased drastically during the implementation of PPKM due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Yes, our production has decreased because many local customers are not allowed to open their shops," he said.

Even so, during the implementation of PPKM, his party claimed to be helped by the export market. According to him, currently his company has exported to 80 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, and America.

"During PPKM, the local market is reduced, but the export market is normal, there are no problems. The export ratio is 90-10 percent, in the past the ratio was 50-50 percent," said Rudy.
