Eco-friendly fabrics for sustainable fashion will become a trend in itself, because the trend of their use will continue to increase. This can be seen from the requirements of Europe and several developed countries such as Japan to textile companies in the country. "Countries in Europe have started to demand and require products exported at least 25 percent must contain recycled yarn." This was stated by the Director of PT Gistex, Welly Tjondroatmoko, Friday (17/12/2021). The recycled yarn is the raw material for cloth that is produced from the recycling of plastic bottles. The bottles are recycled and made into polyester yarn.
"We call it recycle polyester. To produce it, our company has been certified by the Global Recycle Standard (GRS)," explained Welly.
In recent years, the European requirement is at least 25 percent. That number will continue to increase, until 2030, it must be 100 percent. That means, the trend of using environmentally friendly fabrics will continue to increase in the world.
"Customers from Japan also ask for the same thing and we are ready. This will become a global trend," he said.
Eco-friendly fabrics are usually used for all fashion from tops to bottoms.
Even in addition to fashion needs, furniture products also use environmentally friendly fabrics.
Welly said the cloth was only one of the innovations he issued. There are many other innovations, including Gistex Go Green.
Gistex Go Green is a program to minimize the use of non-recycled goods and maximize the use of environmentally friendly goods.
As with the use of solar cells, 20 percent of the waste water is reused, so that the water that is discharged in the outfall and channeled into the Citarum River is clean water resulting from WWTP processing.
Welly said that his company was also affected by the pandemic, especially in the early days of the pandemic.
Many countries are in lockdown, causing no demand and making it difficult to deliver goods.
Conditions are improving as seen from exports which are running again. In 2020, the export value is only 30 percent and this year it reaches 70 percent.
