A member of the DPD RI in the Electoral District of Central Java, Abdul Kholik, initiated three axes of economic growth in Central Java . The three axes of the economic zone are to improve connectivity, regional-based collaboration and simplify development planning. The three new axes based on the region are North Java (Semarang and Pantura) which is a megapolitan area with manufacturing industries, East Java (Solo Raya) is a megapolitan area with industry and agropolitan, and South Java (Banyumas Raya and Kedu) based on agropolitan.
Regarding the economic development opportunities of Greater Solo as a megapolitan area in the East Java region, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business at Sebelas Maret University (FEB UNS) Solo, Lukman Hakim PhD, mentioned Indonesia Incorporated (Inc).
Indonesia Inc. is a long-standing dream in developing an industry where there is integration from the agricultural sector to industry from upstream to downstream, from home industries, MSMEs to large and medium industries. Here the supply chain factor becomes the most important thing.
"The most successful ones are Japan Inc, China Inc. In fact, many Japanese companies operating in China such as Toyota were asked to return to Japan not willing," said Lukman Hakim.
The same thing can be applied by forming Solo Raya Inc. Solo Raya since before independence has been the center of the textile and sugar industry.
Then, over time, the textile industry developed. Big companies such as Batik Keris, Danar Hadi, Sritex, Duniatex, Tyfontex are big factories.
"Several steps have been taken to support the textile industry. For example the establishment of business networks, education (textile community academy) and international, regional and national marketing," he said.
Meanwhile, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business at Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed), Dr. Rahab said, the southern part of Central Java was still shackled by poverty and very unequal to the development of the northern part of Central Java.
Therefore, the concept of equity can be realized. The southern part of Central Java, he said, is more suitable for agropolitan development.
"Optimization of agropolitan can catch up and equalize regional development. Most importantly, reduce the gap between south and north," he said.
Judging from its geography, the southern part of Central Java is very suitable for agropolitan development because it is located at the foot of Mount Slamet, Sindoro, Sumbing which has fertile soil.
"Agropolitan was chosen because it accommodates the existing socio-cultural conditions of the community. This can reduce unemployment," he said.
Diponegoro University (Undip) FEB lecturer, Firmansyah PhD, agreed that economic development in Central Java was based on regionalization.
Thus, there is an emphasis on the economic potential in each region and includes connectivity.
His research has concluded that districts and cities appear to be independent in development planning.
The development design does not explicitly contain development involving areas in neighboring areas.
"In fact, entrepreneurs do not care about administrative areas if there are regions that have the same superiority. Entrepreneurs know the economic value," he said.
Autonomy-based development, he said, brings out its own advantages. There is no connectivity which creates inequality in the development process.
He agreed that development is based on regional potential. Pantura carries the industrial sector, southern agriculture, and eastern megapolitan or a combination of the agro and industrial sectors.
Then, the three regions have inter-sector linkages. Which areas can support other areas.
