The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) through the Agency for Standardization and Policy on Industrial Services (BSKJI) seeks support in the form of services for industry. The Head of BSKJI at the Ministry of Industry, Doddy Rahadi, said that this concrete step was taken to answer the various challenges and problems that are being faced by industry players, especially during the economic recovery period. One of the supports was given in the form of a One Stop Solution for the textile and textile product (TPT) industry by the Textile Center (BBT) as a BSKJI work unit in Bandung. BBT provides Industrial Services and Solution Center (ISSC) facilities which are expected to increase the competitiveness of the national textile industry in the global arena.
"The role of the work unit under BSKJI is to foster and serve the industry, armed with the competence of human resources (HR), a location close to the industrial commodity sector, and having facilities spread across various regions in Indonesia," said Head of BSKJI at the Ministry of Industry, Doddy Rahadi in Jakarta in his official broadcast, Thursday (3/2/2022)
Doddy said the government prioritized several issues and regulations in efforts to develop the national industry, including strengthening the green industry as a commitment to implementing a green economy, implementing industrial technology 4.0 through the INDI 4.0 program, developing the halal industry, certification of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) for industrial products, and an import substitution target of 35 percent by 2022.
"In order to accelerate the delivery of policy and regulatory information to the textile industry, ISSC takes on the role of a center for information and self-assessment assistance for the textile industry," said Doddy.
The various services provided by ISSC include information on halal textiles, TKDN and INDI 4.0 self-assessment assistance, information on product quality standards and standard test methods for the textile sector, as well as information related to Green Industry regulations.
"Not only that, in addition to helping the industry's readiness to meet regulatory requirements set by the government, ISSC is also a center for solutions to problems faced by the textile industry," he added.
One of the problems faced by the textile industry is the need for energy, especially with the discourse of increasing the basic electricity tariff.
Related to this, Doddy explained, ISSC offers an energy conservation audit program to companies as an energy efficiency measure in production activities in the textile industry.
The program provides a profitable solution because the industry can find out the energy load borne by each machine and obtain recommendations for its efficiency strategy. "This will certainly support the implementation of Green Industry concepts," said Doddy.
Furthermore, he explained, strengthening the competitiveness of the textile industry also requires production quality assurance and the application of SNI-based product quality standards.
The Textile Center through the TEXPA product certification agency has increased the scope of product certification, including SNI 08-7035-2004 Upholstery fabric, SNI 8914-2020 Textile-Mask made of cloth.
Next, SNI 8913-2020 Textiles-fabric for surgical gowns (surgical gowns), surgical drapes, and medical coveralls, SNI 8443-2017 Textile-Nirwoven sound-absorbing textiles, SNI 8857-2020 Textile-mats, SNI 8856-2020 Textiles -mukena, and SNI 8213-2016 Textile-sewing thread.
Some of these SNIs support import substitution policies and the halal industry for the category of used goods.
Meanwhile in the IKM sector, efforts to implement quality standards of traditional woven fabrics that have been carried out include collaboration with BSN and other stakeholders.
Furthermore, the application of SNI was initiated from the guarantee of product safety and health factors referring to SNI 7617:2013/Amd.1:2014 Textiles – Requirements for azo dyes, formaldehyde content and metal content extracted from fabrics, Amendment 1.
"With the application of the SNI, IKM can increase the added value of products in the global market because their products are guaranteed not to contain chemicals that are harmful to users," said Doddy.
