After two years of enjoying the momentum of Eid, the textile industry hopes that the situation will reverse this year as the government's decision to allow people to go home. Secretary General of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Rizal Tanzil Rakhman said the average production capacity utility was 60 to 70 percent due to demand for Eid. "We hope that this Eid we really celebrate Eid, especially since the government allows going home, meaning there will be mobility and people tend to shop, especially for Eid clothes," said Rizal, Saturday (26/3/2022).
The surge in orders has even caused many textile entrepreneurs, especially in small and medium industries (IKM), to find it difficult to find employees. This has happened since the beginning of this year in line with the economic recovery.
Massive layoffs in the early days of the pandemic caused the absorption of labor in the IKM sector to run slowly.
"They continue to look for [employees], yesterday from the report, they had a hard time finding tailors," he continued.
Contacted separately, the Director of PT Trisula Textile Industries Tbk. (BELL) R Nurwulan Kusumawati projects that the momentum of Ramadan and Eid will increase sales in the second quarter of 2022. Seeing the pattern of people's spending that has started to move to online platforms, Nurwulan said the company is intensifying sales in an omnichannel manner.
The strategy was considered successful with an increase in Trisula's online sales throughout last year which reached 38.4 percent. Demand ahead of Eid is also predicted to increase the company's online sales performance through the integrated e-commerce, Yukshopping.com.
"Ahead of Ramadan, we see a good opportunity for demand for BELL products and we hope there will be an improvement in sales, especially in the second quarter of 2022. This is supported by conditions that are getting better and several sectors from industry to retail are increasing this year," he explained. .
He also said that this year the company has no plans to increase production capacity and is still focused on fulfilling incoming orders. Meanwhile, Nurwulan also combined the increase in raw material prices as the impact of commodity prices.
"We are still developing first because the current conditions are changing a lot," he added.
