The Ministry of Industry continues to strive to improve productivity, efficiency and product quality in the textile and textile products (TPT) industry. One of the efforts is to facilitate the textile industry to utilize modern technology through a program to restructure production machinery and equipment. “Last year, this restructuring program was utilized by eight companies. This year, we are rolling it out again so that our textile industry can be more productive and globally competitive,” said Plt. The Director General of Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industries (IKFT) Ignatius Warsito was quoted Friday (4/8/2022).

Plt. The Director General of IKFT explained that in order to make the restructuring program of machinery and production equipment successful in the IKFT sector, his party was proactive in holding outreach activities so that it was right on target.

“In 2022, a program to restructure machinery and equipment for the fabric refinement industry and the fabric printing industry. We have socialized this program to 100 companies physically and more than 143 companies online,” he explained.

The machine and equipment restructuring program in 2022 also encourages the application of technologies such as artificial intelligence, internet of things, augmented reality/virtual reality, advanced robotics, 3D printing and/or machine to machine communication.

"This program is implemented by providing replacement or reimbursement of price discounts of 10 percent of the total investment in machinery and equipment originating from imports, or 25 percent for domestically produced machinery and equipment," he said.

The available budget allocation in 2022 is IDR 8.5 billion with a target of at least 18 companies participating. Warsito conveyed that the implementation of the machinery and equipment restructuring program was a form of stimulus and a concrete manifestation of the government in order to boost the performance of the textile industry in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as an effort to accelerate national economic recovery.

"In addition, this program is also part of the implementation of the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap through the provision of investment incentives to stimulate the use of machines and/or equipment that are more modern, more efficient, energy efficient and more environmentally friendly," he said.

The machine and equipment restructuring program is also an effort to realize Indonesia's commitment to fulfilling greenhouse gas emission mitigation in accordance with the Paris Agreement and the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26). This is because the machines that are invested in or purchased by the industry are machines that are more environmentally friendly and minimize waste and save energy.

“This program is a continuation of the restructuring program carried out in the textile, footwear and leather industry, which was carried out in the period 2007-2015. This program has proven to have a good impact on the performance of the industrial sector, for example the addition of investment in machinery and equipment of Rp. 13.82 trillion," he said.r
