Do you have clothes that are still good and too good to throw away? If so, just come to the Barter.in event: Exchange Movement which will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Bentara Budaya Jakarta, South Palmerah. The Exchange Movement itself is organized by I Choose Earth, a digital community that is committed to promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle. As reflected in its name, Barter.in is not just a clothing donation. There, you can exchange other people's clothes so that everyone can benefit from it. This clothes changing event is the first event for Barter.in. "Barter.in is an exchange movement. So there is no need to buy something new, just use the existing one," said National Geographic Indonesia's Head of Community and Campaign, Diky Wahyudi Lubis. This movement is intended to raise awareness of textile waste which is now a serious problem.

"The fashion industry, especially fast fashion, gives consumers the option to buy lots of clothes at affordable prices and the clothes have a relatively short lifespan, so that textile waste continues to increase," added Diky. "This movement is also made to instill that its okay to repeat the same clothes, the same things for a long time. Instead of buying new, Barter.in can be a solution," added Diky.

If you want to take part in this event, you just need to bring a maximum of three adult clothes. The clothes you bring will later be curated, to ensure their quality (cannot be damaged, perforated, or stained). After that, you can barter with other people's clothes that suit your taste.

In this event, the committee also provides light clothing repair services by cooperating with Ctrl+N. So if there is minor damage such as a small hole or a stuck zipper, you can fix it on the spot. To make the atmosphere even more fun, the Barter.in event will also be enlivened by musical performances.

Interesting right? By following this movement, you are playing a role in reducing textile waste and reducing the burden on the earth.

Come join Barter.in by coming on Friday, June 3, 2022, 9.00-17.00 to Bentara Budaya Jakarta, South Palmerah
