The Innofashion Show 4 in 2022, is an event for students of UK Petra's Fashion and Textile Design Program (DFT) to show off. For two days, the activity will be held in a hybrid manner from 24-25 June 2022 at Q Building, Petra-Surabaya UK campus. There are various activities including Fashion Art Journal Workshop for students, Fashion Exhibition which presents the best works of DFT UK Petra students and Sashion Final Project Fashion Show. The final project fashion show titled "Sashion" will feature 15 clothing collections from active students of DFT UK Petra and their final project (TA) from the Leadership Enhancement Program (LEAP) Community Engagement and Research Innovation course series.

 “Sashion itself is part of an activity entitled Innofashion Show 4 which is an appreciation of academic achievements from students of the UK Petra DFT program. The works displayed are works of fashion expression that are in accordance with their identity. However, these students are also taught to create problem-oriented works based on research,” said Rika Febriani, S.Sn., M.A., as the Head of the UK Petra DFT Program.

Each TA clothing collection displayed in Sashion 2022 with the theme “Metamorphosis” is the result of in-depth research during one year of LEAP implementation. LEAP is an application of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus from the Ministry of Education and Culture in UK Petra.

The work of this class of 2018 student displays five collections of clothing made from Samarinda woven fabrics. Prajna who took LEAP Community Engagement (LEAP CE) named his work “Sesarung” and was guided by one of them by Embran Nawawi, S.Ds., M.Sn., a well-known designer from Surabaya.

“I see that the use of Samarinda sarongs, especially in fashion products, is still rare. Most government or formal events only. Finally, I made five ready-to-wear looks made from Samarinda sarongs,” added Prajna.

According to this Surabaya-born girl, the Samarinda sarong is mostly known to the public as a souvenir or used as a tool for Muslim worship. People are not used to appearing using batik or Samarinda sarongs for daily fashion.

The excellence of Prajna's work directly involves the weaving SMEs in Samarinda and jointly produces superior products from Samarinda so that they hope to be known by the wider community.

“I am very concerned about the huge amount of fashion waste. Therefore, as a form of responsibility towards the environment for TA, I created a design with a zero waste fashion concept,” explained the 2018 student.

Tiffany, which since 2021 has had the brand "Tiffany The Label", has taken LEAP Research Innovation (LEAP RI), which includes research on innovation and entrepreneurship. Tiffany made observations and research first before producing a slick and interesting design.

The student, who was mentored by Dibya Hodi, the designer of the Indonesian Fashion Chamber, produced five ready-to-wear products that were unique in appearance and sustainable. The design is made for young women and can be worn to relax or work from home.

The concept of environmentally friendly clothing appears in every design. The remaining pieces were used as much as possible by this student from Surabaya. Even Tiffany uses calculations for the rest of her waste. What Tiffany did was use the remaining pieces of the neck cloth used for ornaments in her clothes. So that what remains is only a very small piece of cloth.
