The West Java Provincial Environmental Agency (DLH) has taken firm action against the textile factory in Purwakarta for violating regulations on waste disposal which results in environmental damage.

It is known that the company engaged in the textile sector is considered to have committed violations related to the Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL).

Head of DLH West Java, Prima Mayaningtyas said the action was in accordance with the West Java Governor's Decree (SK) regarding the Cilamaya DAS Task Force which includes Subang, Karawang, and Purwakarta. According to him, the Task Force is the integration of various parties for Cilamaya.

The parties in question are the Governor and Deputy Task Force, as well as the Task Force for the Government of the Regents. Furthermore, representatives and task force in the field of ecosystem arrangement from the Siliwangi Military Command and law enforcement from the West Java Regional Police.

"So, in fact, we collaborate with this integration to enforce environmental laws where violations are committed by the initiator or those who have business activities," said Prima in Bandung.

He explained that actually the Regency Government (Pemkab) has the right to issue sanctions for administration, from written to tiered government coercion. The reason is, he continued, the regency that issued the permit.

"Incidentally Purwakarta does not have PPLH in the province, based on a letter, we are helping the task force framework. So this collaboration actually wants to convey to the initiator of the activity. Try to obey environmental regulations, ”he explained.

Prima revealed that his party had received reports from the public regarding PT Prima Iljo's violations. "There is river patrol from the community, so it is impossible for the province, DLH and the task force. On the basis of public complaints we can carry out supervision, "he said.

The closure of the IPAL lasts until the company recovers the sanctions. "If it has been restored and we have measured the water quality again, the pollution parameter does not exceed the quality standard, then we will lift the sanctions again," he said.

In addition, Prima stated, if after reopening it is still violating the rules then his party will not hesitate to be subject to Article No. 79 namely the freezing of environmental permits.

"In fact, it is possible that later it could have an impact on the closure of the factory. Therefore, I hope the company will immediately make improvements in order to provide an example to other companies that violate it, "he explained.
