China's textile industry recorded steady revenue growth in the first half of 2022, according to official data from the Chinese government.Textile companies with a total annual main business income of at least 20 million yuan (1 yuan = IDR 2,195) or about 3 million US dollars (1 USD = 14,799) earned 2.52 trillion yuan in revenue in the first six months of 2022 , up 5.7 percent year on year (yoy), according to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The total value added of these companies increased by 0.9 percent (yoy) in the same period. The combined total sales value of major retailers reached 8.12 trillion yuan in the January-June period, up 0.8 percent from a year earlier.
Meanwhile, the total value of the country's garment exports reached 156.5 billion US dollars, an increase of 11.7 percent in the same period. However, the data also shows that these companies recorded a decrease in total profit of 17 percent (yoy) and their yarn, fabric and garment output fell slightly.
In addition, the employment rate of the textile sector in the country is also said to have decreased slightly.
