The Textile Museum received a grant of more than 1,500 collections of batik cloth and ikat from the Eiko Adnan Kusuma family, to be exhibited, cared for and stored by the Textile Museum. The Head of the Art Museum Management Unit, Sri Kusumawati said this shows that the public's trust in the Textile Museum, as an institution that preserves Indonesian traditional fabrics.

"I express my gratitude and high appreciation to the extended family of the deceased's heirs who have contributed to this Textile Museum," Sri Kusumawati said at the Nitik Exhibition, quoted Friday (28/10/2022).

Eiko Adnan Kusuma is a fabric collector who was born in Yogyakarta, and studied at Kyoto University Japan, he died in Jakarta on September 8, 2011.

Starting from Eiko's interest in traditional fabrics to her hobby of collecting batik, and antique ikat fabrics since the 1960s. He has a total of more than 2,000 copies, and part of his collection of about 150 was donated to the Fukuoka Art and Textile Museum, Japan.

Previously, the batik collection was also often exhibited at several batik exhibitions in Indonesia, and abroad such as the Netherlands, Japan, and the United States.

The extended family of Eiko Adnan Kusuma donated his collection of around 1,500 pieces of traditional batik and woven fabrics to the Textile Museum, with the aim of preserving these fabrics as a wealth of Indonesian art.
