The DKI Jakarta High Court granted the appeal of the public prosecutor (JPU) against one of the defendants in the textile import corruption case, named Irianto.

Irianto is a commissioner of PT Fleemings Indo Batam and a Director of PT Peter Garmindo Prima. He is one of the defendants in a textile smuggling corruption case involving a number of Batam Customs officials.

In the first instance court, Irianto was found guilty by the court and sentenced to 3 years in prison.

The judges of PT DKI Jakarta, in their ruling, granted the prosecutor's appeal and at the same time strengthened the decision of the Corruption Crime Court at the Central Jakarta District Court Number 55/Pid, Sus-TPK/2020/PN Jkt.Pst., April 7, 2021.

"Determining the period of arrest and detention that the Defendant has served is deducted entirely from the sentence imposed and stipulates that the Defendant remains in custody," the Supreme Court, Monday (12/7/2021).

The textile import corruption case has cost the country's economy Rp1.64 trillion. This case also tarnished the name of the customs authority, because four of its officials were involved in the scandal.

The four defendants, former Customs and Excise officials, included Mokhammad Muklas, Kamaruddin Hidayat, Dedi Aldrian, and Hariyono Adi Wibowo. They have each been sentenced to 2 years in prison by the judges of the Central Jakarta District Court.

Meanwhile, Irianto, the only private party involved in the case, was sentenced to 4 years in prison and required to pay a fine of Rp. 50 million or could be replaced with a sentence of 2 months in prison.
