The wave of layoffs (PHK) is still continuing in the country. In the midst of a situation called President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as an abnormal condition. The president even repeatedly warned his men to be careful and alert. In order not to make mistakes in making policies when inflation is high, economic growth is declining, energy crises, food crises, and financial crises are still threatening.

It has been proven that labor-intensive industries in the country, including textiles and textile products (TPT) are currently victims of the crisis that has hit the world. High inflation in export destination countries triggered a reduction and restriction of orders to TPT factories in the country.

As a result, there was a decrease in production capacity. Until it causes employee efficiency, by laying off even layoffs.

“Employee layoffs are still happening,” said Secretary General of the Indonesian Filament Fiber and Yarn Association (APSyFI) Redma Gita Wirawasta, Wednesday night (30/11/2022).

"Employee reductions have exceeded 100,000. Some have been laid off, reduced working hours, termination of contracts, and even layoffs," he added.

This condition, he said, occurred in the textile industry from upstream to downstream.

"(Location) West Java and Central Java," said Redma.

This symptom of laying off employees has been going on since last month. Redma said the TPT factory's production capacity continued to fall even by 50% and was feared to continue until 2023.
