The manager of Block A of Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta projects that the number of consumers at the wholesale center will increase by up to 30 percent compared to normal days ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays. During the normal situation before the Covid-19 pandemic, the average consumer visit per day could reach 60 thousand people. Currently, the level of consumer visits is estimated to reach up to 40 thousand people per day. "Now the status of restrictions on community activities is looser and this encourages all sectors of life including in Tanah Abang," said Main Director of PT Cakrawala Tirta Buana Indiarto Tanumihardja as manager of Block A of Tanah Abang Market in Jakarta, Friday (23/12/2022).

He is optimistic that the increase in consumer visits will also be accompanied by the value of transactions or sales from textile traders in the market. However, his party does not calculate the range of transaction values because they are managed by the business actors themselves.

There are a number of needs that are much sought after, including clothing, both retail and wholesale, as well as school clothes for children. In addition, he continued, traders from the regions have started hunting for textiles for needs ahead of the Fasting Month in March 2023.

"So, apart from the long holiday of Christmas, New Year and school holidays, there are also clothing traders from the regions who usually start stockpiling clothes for sale three months before Fasting and Eid," he said.

Meanwhile, trading activity in Block A of Tanah Abang Market has started to show an increase. Toko Millennial clothing seller, Azizah, said that to attract buyers, she offered the lowest price of up to IDR 50,000 for women's clothing.

Another trader, Jefri from Syahid's shop, also admitted that consumers started arriving not only from Jakarta and other provinces, but also from abroad, such as Malaysia, the Philippines to Iran. In addition to adult clothing, children's clothing and school clothing are also the target of consumers.

The traders also offer attractive prices, namely retail purchases priced at Rp. 35,000 per unit and buying three pieces of children's clothing for Rp. 100,000. "Now it has started to look crowded since early December," said Arifin, a children's clothing seller at the Cotton Kids shop.
