Many garment factories sold through property marketplaces after going out of business. The majority of these factories are located in Jabodetabek. Based on monitoring by MNC Portal Indonesia on the property sale and purchase website Olx on Monday (6/2/2023), a garment factory with an area of 1.2 hectares was sold for IDR 80 billion in Depok City. Then there are those in Tangerang that are sold for IDR 26 billion with a building area of 1,500 m2 including a sewing machine, in Bekasi a garment factory is sold for IDR 18 billion with a building area of 1,000 m2 with 150 m2 office space facilities, and many more.
However, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Anne Patricia said that her party had yet to receive an official report from the Jabodetabek garment entrepreneurs.
According to him, the factories selling their assets in the Jabodetabek area are private companies that are not registered with the API.
"We, API, have not received information from API members about the sales of garment factories in Jabodetabek. But we have heard about the reduction in capacity last year. Indeed, there have been many reports to us, but to be precise, some have gone up, some have gone down, some are recruiting again for a short time. ," said Anne, Monday (6/2/2023).
In Anne's opinion, although there are several garment factories nationally that have closed and are being sold on property buying and selling sites, it does not mean that these entrepreneurs are selling suddenly, but rather slowly. Like starting from reducing new employees and then selling them.
"But if there are national ones that close, I'm not sure they will sell immediately. There are those that close or reduce employees, maybe because of global softening. But if you sell directly, I think it's really drastic," he said.
He continued, if there is a reduction in employees, Anne has the record because employers who are members of the API provide reports. But not until it closes permanently and sells to other parties.
"To be honest, as the deputy chairman of the API, no one has ever reported to me if anyone wants to sell the factory. If the data goes to the API, I will definitely say this but I have not been reported to this problem," explained Anne.
