The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy or the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/ Baparekraf) hopes that the creative economy industry, especially the fashion sub-sector, can become the host in their own country. In the IFW 2023 Opening Ceremony, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that the creative economy has been proven to be able to advance the economy and be able to survive during a pandemic. This can be seen from the fashion sub-sector which is still a mainstay of Indonesia's creative economy exports with a contribution value of 61.5 percent.

“Therefore we have to be the host in our own country. Many of our fashion brands should be promoted more. Therefore, this Indonesia Fashion Week really has to contribute to the revival of our economy with the 3G principles of 'rushing', moving fast, 'geber' moving together, and 'gaspol' working on all online potential. So that Indonesia will be more prosperous," said Sandiaga.

Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2023 which is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf is one of the biggest annual fashion events in Indonesia which has entered its 10th year.

Previously, Sandiaga had also ranked first in the fashion subsector in contributing to the export value of the national creative economy.

The fashion sub-sector is still the mainstay of Indonesia's creative economy (ekraf) exports with a contribution value of 61.6 percent. Meanwhile, the second rank was filled by the craft sub-sector with 30.95 percent and the third in the culinary sub-sector with 6.76 percent.

"This fashion ranks first in the export value of our creative economy, the fashion sub-sector creates around 2 million jobs from the entire supply chain of the fashion ecosystem," said Sandiaga.

The main export destination countries for Indonesian fashion products include the United States, Switzerland, Japan, China and Germany.

Furthermore, the national fashion industry is growing and developing, both in terms of quality, color variations and variety of products. However, the incessant global environmental issues have affected various industrial sectors, including the fashion industry. Apart from that, the government also continues to support business actors, especially in the fashion sector, so that they are bigger.

Meanwhile, the President of Indonesia Fashion Week, Poppy Dharsono, said that Indonesia Fashion Week 2023 was being carried out with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm to return to moving micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the creative industry as before. Which is based on the noble values of the Indonesian nation, namely Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.

"Hopefully the creative industry, especially Gorontalo, can be widely recognized by the public and even internationally," hoped Poppy.

Furthermore, the government continues to strive to strengthen the promotion of export products. Modest fashion products are one that is expected as a source of new export growth, including modest fashion exports.

Previously the Director General of National Export Development, Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) Didi Sumedi also explained, the United States is an important market for Indonesian fashion products because its population reaches 331 million people and is the largest clothing importer in the world.

"The Ministry of Trade in recent years has given impetus to the development of fashion with an ecosystem approach. It includes the textile industry, academia, and fashion designers or brands. The hope is that this approach can produce a sustainable fashion industry," hoped Didi.

Apart from that, another effort made by the Ministry of Trade is through participation in international class fashion week events.

In addition, the national fashion industry is growing and developing, both in terms of quality, color variations and variety of products. However, the incessant global environmental issues have affected various industrial sectors, including the fashion industry.
