Clothing vendors in Bekasi Junction complain that they don't buy enough during this year's Eid season. As of D-3, Wednesday (19/4/2023 to be exact), stocks of goods owned by traders are still piling up and have not been sold out. "Now there are very few buyers," said Daniel, a clothing trader at Bekasi Junction in Bekasi City, West Java, yesterday. Daniel said, when compared to 2022, clothing sales this year actually decreased. In fact, last year, Indonesia was still in the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic. He was surprised, now that there is no pandemic and free people don't wear masks, instead there are no buyers.
Daniel estimates that this situation was due to the global recession which suppressed the Indonesian economy. "Now the impact on small traders is that there are no buyers," he said.
According to Daniel, Eid 2023 will be a very difficult time for all clothing traders and the textile industry. He admits, in 2022, his condition will be happier because many of his trades are selling well. "Last year, before the fasting month, buyers were already busy arriving," he said.
For decades selling clothes in the Bekasi City shopping center, Daniel admitted, this year was the saddest. That's because Ramadan will end, but the clothes in the shop are still piling up. "Too bad this year," he said.
Apart from Daniel, there is Ayunda who said last year's sales were higher than this year's. Even so, he remains grateful that there are still potential buyers visiting Bekasi Junction. "Alhamdulillah, there are many who come, but those who buy are rare," he said.
Even though until D-3 Eid there were still few buyers, Ayunda hoped that on the last night of Ramadan many people would come to buy her wares. Bekasi Junction will be open until Saturday (22/4/2/2023) at 02.00 WIB. "Hopefully there will be many people who will buy it on takbiran night," he said.
Every day, Bekasi Junction opens at 09.30 WIB and closes at 06.00 WIB. Operational hours will be added by management if there is an increase in the number of visitors. Ayunda said last year there were already a lot of buyers three weeks before Eid. This year, new buyers increased a week before Eid Al-Fitr 1444 Hijriyah.
Meanwhile, Bekasi Junction security officer, Andri said, just in the last few days, the number of visitors has increased significantly. He estimates that on the night of takbiran the number of people who come will increase. "Hopefully it will be crowded at takbiran night," he said.
