Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, said that even though the Industrial Confidence Index (IKI) for the June 2023 period had increased, the condition of the textile and textile product (TPT) industry was still declining. "We state that the textile sub-sector is still suffering (slumping). Even though there is an increasing trend (IKI), we also receive reports from our textile industry colleagues, the textile industry is still suffering," said Febri at a press conference for the June 2023 IKI release at the Ministry of Industry's office. , Jakarta, Tuesday (27/6/2023).

Febri said that one of the reasons the textile industry has not yet recovered is the large number of sales of imported textile goods on the marketplace. He said the imported goods disrupted the domestic textile industry.

"This needs to be closely monitored so that imported textile products that are here do not flood and do not cause the domestic textile industry to suffer," he said.

Apart from that, Febri said, another cause was the release of imported textile goods from the Bonded Logistics Center (PLB) not in accordance with the stipulated conditions. Based on this, he asked the relevant Ministries/Institutions to strictly supervise activities at the PLB.

"We ask the ministries/agencies in charge of PLB to strictly monitor goods leaving the PLB, especially those entering the domestic market, to be strictly monitored," he said.
