The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is optimistic that the textile industry will return to life in the 2024 political year. This is because parties will order their party equipment ranging from clothes to party flags. "It's also positive (the request) because with so many parties, it's bound to stretch because our demand will especially impact the fabric and yarn sector. I'm sure that in 2024 or this politics will be a blessing in the textile and textile product industry," said Acting Plt. Director General of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industry (IKFT) of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) Ignatius Warsito in Jakarta, Monday (31/7/2023).

Warsito said, the demand for making party shirts in 2024 will be greater than in the previous political year, namely 2019.

This is because there are as many as 110 million people projected by the General Election Commission (KPU) who are expected to participate in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

"This will have an impact on party shirts, there are a lot of them. I think it's better this year because it's consolidated with what they hope for together. The election for the Pilkada Pilpres is exciting for our textile industry," explained Warsito.

As previously reported, textile and textile product (TPT) industry players in the country had to rack their brains to survive. This is because they are dealing with low demand for exports due to the global economic slowdown and low domestic purchasing power due to a flood of imported goods.

Based on research results from the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), the Industrial Confidence Index (IKI) for the June 2023 period recorded 53.93 or an increase of 3.03 points compared to May 2023.

The increase in IKI in the manufacturing industry is a contribution from a large sub-sector that is experiencing expansion. However, 3 sub-sectors recorded contractions, namely, the textile industry; leather industry, leather goods and footwear; and other processing industries.

"We state that the textile sub-sector is still suffering (slumping). Even though there is an increasing trend (IKI), we are also receiving reports from textile industry friends, the textile industry is still suffering," said Ministry of Industry spokesman Febri Hendri Antoni Arif in a press conference.
