Tangerang: Cipadu Market, Tangerang City, which is a favorite place to buy textiles, is now empty of visitors. Several shops have changed owners because they are no longer able to sell their products. Adi, a textile trader at Cipadu Market, said that his place of business was currently the most famous as the largest textile center in Southeast Asia. However, current conditions are no longer the same. "The current atmosphere is the opposite during the Covid-19 pandemic. At that time, more consumers came and chose ingredients directly here," he said, Monday, September 18 2023.
According to Adi, the current lack of buyers is because many traders sell using online application systems.
"The number of visitors has dropped now, because of the development of online sales. The impact is that many people now don't come directly here, they use internet technology to buy them," he explained.
"Before there were many people online, every day there were people buying materials. Now it's been almost two months since there have been no buyers," he added.
Adi said that conditions like this require him and other traders to transform using this technology.
"If we don't do this, we will go bankrupt. This is done to keep sales going," he said.
Adi hopes that the government can monitor online sales, so that the atmosphere for buyers at the market is maintained.
"If we don't monitor it, this market could close. And those of us who are still open will go bankrupt," he said.
