The alleged attack on imported clothing via social media Tiktok was blamed for the hit domestic convection factories. Not a few end up waving the white flag as a sign of their inability to face the competition. Local convection factories have actually been hit since last year due to the influx of wholesale imported goods. The condition has gotten worse with the recent existence of the Tiktok Shop. "What is certain is that it has been closed since last year. So one company has a system of daily workers, the other uses a capacity of less than 50%. There are also 3-4 companies that have laid off workers," said the General Chair of the Indonesian Filament and Yarn Producers Association (APSyFI). Redma Wirawasta, Friday (22/9/2023).

This condition occurs in many local convections. They have difficulty competing in their own domestic market, as a result there are several efficiency systems that must be implemented, including in terms of operations.

"The rest were rescheduled from, for example, 6 working days, because several lines were closed, they were replaced, the operation was from 6 days to 3 days because a machine was down," said Redma.

This condition could get worse if there is no serious improvement from the government. He admitted that he was disappointed with the government because there had been no significant policy improvements after many textile manufacturers closed and hundreds of thousands of workers were affected.

"We are disappointed with the government, layoffs have started from the third quarter of 2022, now we are entering the third quarter again, nothing, what is being done? Coordination, meetings up to 7 times. Illegal ones are coming in, imports are coming in, online ones are still going without any help- what," said Redma.
