Business does not always run well, there are times when an entrepreneur has to make drastic decisions such as changing business sectors. For example, changing a business that was originally in the textile sector to the automotive sector, something that Toyota did. The Warta Ekonomi team had the opportunity to see in detail the long history of one of the world's vehicle pioneers during a visit to the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology in Noritake Shinmachi, Nagoya, Japan on Friday (27/10). Toyota is now known as one of the world's car manufacturers, but who would have thought that this company's journey began with the textile industry in Japan. Toyota was born from the essence of Sakichi Toyoda who made it easier and maximized the work of weaving workers with automatic machines. This innovative and skilled attitude is a value admired by many people, including his son, Kiichiro Toyoda.
However, success in the textile industry apparently did not satisfy the figure of Sakichi Toyoda's eldest son. Kiichiro had another idea in mind that would change the industrial map of Japan. This started when he started to enter the business world of the Toyoda Family.
Before Sakichi Toyoda died, he advised his children to continue their business in the textile sector. However, Kiichiro Toyoda apparently preferred the automotive industry, he even dared to take a risky decision with the ambition to produce vehicles created by Japan.
The government, who knows about this, supports this and helps him to study and take inspiration to develop the automotive industry. The result was a car called the Model A1 in 1935. This car was the first car created by Toyoda.
Next, Toyota Motor Company was present as a subsidiary of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. From here, the journey of this vehicle pioneer began by going through a number of events ranging from recession, world war to economic crisis to becoming a world automotive vehicle manufacturer.
At the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, the Warta Ekonomi Team saw a number of creations from Toyota. Corolla, Celica, Crown and Camry are proof of the innovation produced by this company which originally operated in the textile industry.
Now, Toyota is popular as a car manufacturer that has production facilities in many countries from the United States to Indonesia. It is known as a vehicle brand that is low cost, fuel efficient and reliable for use in all terrains.
