In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, creative industry players must be able to take advantage of existing opportunities. This is what lies behind the re-convenience of the 2021 Surabaya Fashion Parade (SFP), which was previously held online. Dian Apriliana Dewi, the initiator and Founder of SFP, said that this annual fashion event aims to provide a platform and appreciate fashion activists to showcase their work and talents. This year, his party raised the theme 'CICLO' which comes from Italian and means continuity or sustainability.

"Although the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing, people's lives must continue. The same goes for fashion events. This year, SFP is still being implemented by carrying out the concept of fashion sustainability, which focuses on effective and environmentally friendly production processes," said Dian

Meanwhile, the chief executive of the event, Alben Ayub Andal explained, the sustainability concept of SFP 2021 is a re-upgrade of designer works that have not been sold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In the past two years, many clothes have not been sold. We re-upgrade the clothes with the latest models that are adapted to current conditions. And we offer the latest looks to the public," he explained.

He revealed that this concept was also taken in relation to the problem of textile waste or fashion waste which was piling up every day. The reason is, the most waste in the world is fashion waste.

"Fashion waste is the most wasteful nowadays, for that we accommodate sustainable thinking in this SFP," he said.

In the SFP event later, this designer from Surabaya will display 12 collections of evening gowns with body fit cuts that are designed to be simple, but still elegant.

"For SFP, I am still loyal to displaying evening gowns, but this time the designs are lighter. Considering that currently many parties are held privately without inviting many guests," he said.

With the return of this event, Alben hopes to revive the fashion world, especially in Surabaya.

"Hopefully in the future we designers will join hands together, providing the community with the latest trends that can become fashion trendsetters in Surabaya and the world," he concluded.

It is known that the biggest fashion event in Surabaya will be held in a hybrid manner, from December 2-5 2021. The live fashion show will be held at Chameleon Hall and Atrium Tunjungan Plaza 6.

Meanwhile, for people who cannot attend in person, they can watch it via live Instagram or YouTube.
