Imported goods are expected to continue to flood the market in the country's textile and textile products (TPT) industry until December this year. Chairman of the Indonesian Filament Yarn and Fiber Association (APSyFI) Redma Gita Wirawasta said this was in line with the validity period of import permits issued by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) since last March.

"The Ministry of Trade grants import permits until December [2022]. So, imported goods will still be imported until the end of the year," said Redma Sunday (28/8/2022).

He said there was a buildup of imported goods in the country's textile market with a significant increase in the past month. Especially, for fabric products.

According to APSyFI data, over the past month the percentage of imported products in the national textile market jumped from 40 percent to 60 percent compared to the total product on the market.

As a result, said Redma, there was a buildup of product stocks that made domestic textile industry players inevitably have to reduce the amount of production.

In the same period, Redma said that there was a decline in production in the national textile industry by 7-10 percent due to the rise of imported products on the market.
