The Ministry of Industry continues to monitor the readiness of the essential industrial sector which is conducting trials in the implementation of health protocols.
This is in accordance with the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 34 of 2021 concerning the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) Level 4, Level 3, and Level 2 in the Java and Bali Region which is valid on August 17-23 2021.
"Starting from the last three days, the government has tested operational health protocols in companies based on the Operational License and Industrial Activity Mobility (IOMKI) in the essential sector category," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita during a review at PT Gajah Tunggal, Tangerang, Banten.
After seeing firsthand, the Minister of Industry appreciated Gajah Tunggal for having facilities and procedures in handling and preventing Covid-19 in the company and its surroundings.
“This is one of the main criteria in conducting trials. In addition, those who already have IOMKI are required to report regularly every Tuesday and Friday. Then, companies located in PPKM Level 4 status areas have carried out worker vaccinations and used the PeduliLindung application as a screening method," said Agus.
Agus hopes that, if within two weeks of this trial being successfully implemented, the government will open up opportunities for all essential industrial sectors to be able to work 100% again.
"But with a minimum note of two shifts and implementing the PeduliLindung application," he said.
Furthermore, the government and industry players must be ready to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic. Because, no one knows how long Covid-19 will spread in the midst of society.
"Therefore, we must begin to formulate strategic steps to see this Covid-19 as endemic," Agus added.
Agus added that his party will carry out monitoring and evaluation for these two weeks in an effort to implement trials in the essential industrial sector. If the utilization and productivity of the industrial sector can be increased, it will spur its contribution in encouraging economic growth.
Furthermore, Agus also conducted a direct inspection of the implementation of the health protocol at PT Pan Brothers Tbk, Tangerang, Banten. Before entering the production area of this textile and garment factory, the Minister of Industry and his entourage practiced using the PeduliLindung application.
“The use of the PeduliLindung application is a screening method. This makes it very easy and efficient to identify the entry and exit of employees or guests in the application of health protocols. So, keep maintaining production activities well," he said.
The Director General of Resilience, Territorial and International Industrial Access (KPAII) of the Ministry of Industry, Eko S.A. Cahyanto explained that his party had provided recommendations for essential industrial sectors that could pilot the implementation of health protocols.
“Those who are participants have received the QR Code in the PeduliLindung application. Most of the 268 companies have applied it," he said.
The Ministry of Industry has proposed again as many as 166 essential sector industrial companies that are ready to test the implementation of health protocols in carrying out their full operations. "This number is additional from the previous 268 companies and we are continuing to gradually verify and provide recommendations again," said Eko.
