The City Government of Sawahlunto, West Sumatra is trying to accelerate the development of the weaving industry through the proposed construction of a weaving center and the revitalization of machinery and equipment for UPTD Textiles and textile products. Mayor of Sawahlunto Deri Asta, through his written statement, Friday said he had visited the Textile Center (BBT) in Bandung to discuss the synergy between the City Government and the BBT. "In a meeting with the Head of the Bandung Textile Center, Cahyadi, Thursday (27/02), he enthusiastically welcomed and was willing to review the needs of the development program as well as evaluate the current condition of the weaving industry in Sawahlunto," he said.

He said the technical synergy between the Sawahlunto City Government and the Textile Center would be detailed in a cooperation agreement (MoU).

"On that occasion, we also offered to revitalize the textile UPTD in Sawahlunto City into a Technical Service Unit (UPT) capable of serving the needs of the textile industry in West Sumatra," he said.

The Head of the Cooperative, Industry and Trade Office (Diskoperindag) of the City of Sawahlunto Mukhsis who accompanied the Mayor in the meeting said the meeting was a follow-up to the results of discussions with the Director General of Small, Medium and Various Industries (IKMA) of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, on December 28, 2021.

"We are optimistic that Sawahlunto is ready to become a weaving service center in West Sumatra, especially in terms of improving the quality and standardization of textile coloring," he said.
