Fabrics are an important part of human life, from birth to death, humans will always be in contact with cloth. So, every cloth has a story for humans. This concept was raised by textile artists in holding the Teman Seperkainan exhibition with the theme "Kain Ku Sayang", for three days from 28 to 30 October 2022 at Tekodeko Koffiehuis, Kota Lama Semarang. "Every cloth has a story behind it, cloth is not just a sheet that we use every day, more than that, each exhibitor has his own bond with the fabrics and wants to share stories about that bond," said the Friends of Seperkainan Initiator, Firdausi. Refani, Saturday (29/10/2022).

According to Refani, the exhibition was successful because it departed from the wishes of fellow fabric activists.

They then agreed to exhibit their work to be appreciated.

They also don't have any grandiose desires from the exhibition because they just want to share stories and appreciate each other.

"Fabric exhibitions are also rare, usually only in the form of paintings, sculptures or other works of art, so this exhibition is a place for fabric artists to show off," he said.

In the cafe, there were 18 works of cloth lovers exhibited by 11 young people from various regions such as Semarang, Solo, Jepara, Temanggung, Jogja, Depok, West Java, and other areas.

Fabrics by dozens of textile artists are displayed in cafe corners mingling with cafe visitors, such as on the stairs, cafe aisles, roofs, and near visitors' tables.

On the steps of the cafe, on the stairs there is a work by Jemi Nikaulas entitled "Travel" in the form of a statue made of denim. There is also a piece of cloth like photographing a map of the old city on the second floor. The cloth on display was titled Percaku Sayang in the Old City of Semarang.

"If the exhibition in the gallery looks serious, if it's in a cafe like this, it's certainly different, the access is also easy," said another initiator of Friendship, Ningsih Wulan.

Wulan, as he is known, said that the exhibitors were not only artistic, there were also those who criticized environmental issues.

"Like criticizing the waste from large production in Jepara through works made from natural dyes," he said.

The work mentioned by Wulan belongs to Omah Petruk. Omah Petruk with his cloth entitled Kupu Tarung, is able to weave with natural dyes from mahogany leather. Another work belongs to Jessie Setiawan from Semarang which carries the motif of the Tekodeko Koffiehuis Kota Lama building, which is the current exhibition venue. The motif is transferred into a written batik motif with natural dyes. Not only that, there are many works that are no less interesting than the exhibition.
