The government said that meeting green industry standards would be a requirement for Indonesian manufactured products to enter a number of export destination countries. Minister of Industry Expert Staff for Business Climate and Investment (Kemenperin) Andi Rizaldi said the application of green industry standards is a tool for the manufacturing industry to comply with regulations in export destination countries. "Especially regarding sustainable practices and commodity risk management, so that it becomes a competitive advantage for the national industry," said Andi in a press release, Saturday (26/11/2022).

These green industry programs are expected to be able to prevent over-exploitation of sources of raw materials from nature, reduce the exploitation of energy and water.

Then, reducing emissions and waste, as well as handling non-product output to be reused as waste to energy and waste to product. However, certain manufacturing industry sectors in the country have yet to show their commitment to implementing green industry standards.

For example, the textile industry is one of the mainstays of RI's manufacturing. Textile companies' commitment to implementing green industry standards is still minimal. This is reflected in the number of companies that have reported to the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).

Head of the Public Relations Bureau (Kaburo Humas) of the Ministry of Industry, Kris Sasono Ngudi Wibowo, said that so far only 1 company in the textile industry has received green industry certification.

"There is only 1 company that has received green industry certification specifically for the textile industry sector," Kris told Bisnis.

The company that has received green industry certification is PT Kahatex II which is engaged in the dyeing, printing and finishing textile industry. Certification is valid from 16 December 2019 to 15 December 2023.
