The Riau Indonesian Textile Association (API) BPD is again holding a Sharing Class at the Soeman HS Library, Riau Province. The Sharing Class activity is a work program for BPD API Riau in 2023. This time the Sharing Class carries the theme Indonesian Textile Design 2023/2024 presented by the Indonesian Fiber and Filament Yarn Producers Association (APSyFI) in collaboration with sustainable rayon fiber producer PT Asia Pacific Rayon (APR). Material related to color trends in the fashion world was presented by Dr. Tyar Ratuannisa who is part of the Indonesian Trend and Color Studies Research Team, Faculty of Art and Design, Bandung Institute of Technology.

This activity was attended by 30 participants, on Tuesday (15/2) yesterday. Participants consist of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the field of Riau traditional fabrics, tailors, and fashion brands, most of whom have become members of the Riau API BPD.

The Sharing Class is also open to the public, but by becoming a direct member, MSME actors can benefit from work programs such as sharing classes, workshops and assistance from this national-scale association.

In the interactive session, participants enthusiastically asked about mixing colors to produce beautiful fabrics and ready-made garments that attracted many buyers.

One of the Riau batik makers present raised a question regarding the color of batik which remains trendy but does not eliminate the uniqueness of the color of Riau batik.

Dr. Tyar Ratuannisa appreciated the passion and enthusiasm of the participants in the Sharing Class in learning about the latest color trends in the fashion world.

"I am happy because the mothers who attended were very enthusiastic. Especially when studying this color trend. I understand that they may have been constrained by how they can follow fashion trends but still want to maintain Riau Malay DNA, but I'm sure they can collaborate on Riau's distinctive patterns and colors with current color trends," said Tyar Riau, Friday (17/2/ 2022)

Redma Gita Wirawasta, Chairman of APSyFI sees great potential in Riau textiles which can still be developed to make them more advanced.

"I see great potential for textiles in Riau which can still be developed and expanded. Especially for Riau Batik which is unique and can still be marketed more broadly through collaboration with each other, I am optimistic that the textile business in Riau will be even more advanced," said Redma.

The same thing was conveyed by Arniningsih, Deputy Chairperson of BPD API Riau as well as business owner of Batik Seroja and NZ Craft. "We are very pleased that this activity can be carried out. This is of course thanks to the support from APSyFI and APR. Seeing the enthusiasm of the participants, our enthusiasm has been even more motivated to continue assisting local MSMEs to be more progressive and competitive in the wider fashion industry," said Arniningsih.
