To expand the market share of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), business actors can export their produced goods to foreign countries. However, to be able to export the products you have, you must understand every regulation or regulation that regulates product exports to the destination country. In the online seminar on Export Market Opportunities for Indonesian Handicraft Products, the Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Busan, Reandhy Putera explained the regulations or rules that must be fulfilled by MSME players to export products to South Korea.

“To import goods into South Korea, there is a national standard called Korean Standards (KS). "Apart from that, international standards can also be a reference for importing goods into South Korea," said Reandhy some time ago.

The international standards that can be used as references are ISO (International Standardization Organization), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), ASTM (American Society of Testing Materials), EN (European Norm), DIN (Deusche Industrie Norm), and NF (Normes Francaises) .

There are two provisions stipulated, especially for textiles and textile products. First, the Korean Certification (“KC”) mark is a mandatory certification that must be visible on textile products, as stated in the Self Regulatory Safety Confirmation Act or Safety Quality Art of the Quality Control and Safety Management of Industrial Product Law. Second, you have to pay attention to the type of thread used.

Because, for imports of retail products, South Korea prohibits the use of spun silk yarn and silk yarn. Fabrics containing silk containing less than 85 percent can be imported, but only if they have bank approval and approval from the Korean Export Import Association of Textiles, which has become the institution that controls the trade in silk products.

"Types of textile products that come into direct contact with skin, leather products and carpets are related to the safety quality mark act," said Reandhy.

To sell or import related products and receive the KC mark, the manufacturer or importer must state that the product meets safety requirements. The KC mark is individual (self-declaration of conformity) from the manufacturer or importer and is not required to carry out tests, however, if the product does not meet the KC requirements during the Korea Consumer Agency's investigation or sampling, the manufacturer or importer will be subject to criminal law.
