The Indonesian Textile Association (API) supports government regulations regarding the governance of electronic trading systems which now separate social media platforms and e-commerce. This policy is considered to be a step to curb the rate of imports of textiles and textile products (TPT). Meanwhile, the rules for platform separation are contained in the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) No. 31/2023 as a revision of Minister of Trade Regulation no. 50/2020 concerning Provisions for Business Licensing, Advertising, Guidance and Supervision of Business Actors in Trading Through Electronic Systems.

Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Jemmy Kartiwa Sastraatmaja said that social media and e-commerce should be made separate to maintain the trade ecosystem.

"Social commerce and e-commerce really need to be separated, that's the right step. We just need to perfect the rules again," said Jemmy, Wednesday (4/10/2023).

The government's efforts to separate the two platforms are considered to have a positive impact on domestic industry. However, according to Jemmy, the Minister of Trade Regulation is not enough and must be supported by other regulations, one of which relates to limited prohibition regulations (lartas).

In this case, API requested immediate changes that shift supervision from the post border back to the border, especially for ready-made clothing products and clothing accessories as well as finished textile goods.

Meanwhile, these supervisory regulations are currently regulated through Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) No. 51/2020 concerning Inspection and Supervision of Import Trading Procedures After Passing through the Customs Area (Post Border).

"For ready-made clothing, the current import system is post border to become border again, in the past the border was then changed to post border," he said.

Border traffic supervision, namely supervision carried out by customs officers in the customs area, while post border supervision is carried out after leaving the customs area and has circulated in the community and is supervised by the relevant ministry/institution.
