The fire hit PT. Panjimas Textile on Jalan Raya Semambung, Driyorejo Village, Driyorejo District, Sunday (16/5/2021) evening at around 17.00 WIB.

Api first appeared in the warehouse for production goods and so PT. Lexim Global Indo, a subsidiary of PT. Panjimas Textile. In just a short time, the fire spread throughout the factory building.

The fire was discovered by a number of employees who were around the warehouse at the rear of the factory. The employees had tried to extinguish the fire with light extinguishing tools around the factory.

However, the fire continued to grow so that it kept employees and security personnel away from the fire site and out of the factory area. Luckily, there were no casualties from this incident.

The fire was reported to the Driyorejo Police and the Gresik District Government Damkar Team. "We received a report around 17.22 WIB and just finished the blackout at around 22.51 WIB," said Head of UPT Damkar Gresik, Eka Prapangasta, Monday (17/5/2021).

According to him, when the firefighters arrived, the fire was already very big. The fire was only managed to be put out at around 22.51 WIB by the Gresik Damkar car assisted by a fire engine from the company around the scene.

Eka Prapangasta could not confirm the cause of the great fire. "The cause of the fire is still under investigation," he explained.

Likewise, losses cannot be estimated. However, it is estimated to reach billions of rupiah.

According to the information gathered, it is suspected that the fire came from a cotton opener engine and a vanbelt cylinder motor which had a problem. The machine emits smoke and sparks a fire, then burns the raw materials that are in the raw material warehouse of PT. Lexim Global Indo, then spreads to other flammable items.
