On May 18, 2021 th
e Indonesian Ambassador (Ambassador) to Panama City, Sukmo Harsono, paid a visit to the Panama Logistics company, Farmazona S.A, which is in Colon Province.
Ambassador Sukmo was received by the President Director of Farmazona, Carmen Ferrari; and Manager for Cooperation and Business Development, Zarita Castañedo.
The visit is a follow-up to the results of the meeting on 28 April 2021 to explore marketing efforts for Indonesian products in Latin America and the Caribbean through cooperation between Indonesian companies and Farmazona.
Farmazona is a Panamanian logistics company with over 50 years of experience.
The company operates not only in Panama, but also in Latin American and Caribbean countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Sukmo discussed with President Carmen regarding technical matters, especially the steps forward that must be taken, in order to realize cooperation efforts with companies in Indonesia.
In this case it was agreed to immediately compile a list of Indonesian companies that are interested in collaborating with Farmazona and information on product details to be marketed.
The Indonesian Embassy in Panama City will act as a facilitator to virtually bring Indonesian companies together with Farmazona to discuss possible further cooperation.
Apart from conducting discussions, Ambassador Sukmo also reviewed the warehouse facilities and logistics transportation owned by the company.
Farmazona has five warehouses which are divided by type of product. Some of the major pharmaceutical companies that have worked with Farmazona include P&G, Sanofi, Boehringer Ingelheim, Novartis.
Apart from visiting Farmazona, Ambassador Sukmo also met with the President of the Colon Chamber of Commerce, Gilberto Mena and the Executive Director of the Colon Chamber of Commerce, Josimar Ortiz.
During the meeting Ambassador Sukmo expressed his hope of being able to collaborate more closely with the Colon Chamber of Commerce and entrepreneurs in Colon.
"The knowledge of entrepreneurs in Colon about Indonesia's potential as well as the knowledge of Indonesian entrepreneurs about potential cooperation with Panama, especially Colon as a trade hub in Latin America and the Caribbean is still limited," said Ambassador Sukmo.
"For this reason, it is necessary to carry out various promotional efforts, for example through seminars that present chambers of commerce or associations and employers of both parties to convey information about various potential existing collaborations," he continued.
Meanwhile, the President of the Colon Chamber of Commerce also said that he was ready to become a facilitator to connect the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce with the Federation of Central American Chambers of Commerce or FECAMCO.
On this occasion, Ambassador Sukmo also promoted various leading Indonesian export products such as palm oil, textiles, masks and other medical equipment, vehicle parts, furniture and handicrafts, as well as strategic industrial products such as planes, trains, ships and weapons.
