Recycled yarn producer from Bandung, PT Sejahtera Bintang Abadi Textile Tbk has started exporting prayer mat yarn to Middle Eastern countries.
What's interesting is that the issuer with the stock code SBAT uses textile waste as its main raw material in exporting its products.
SBAT President Director Jefri Junaedi said the company made new products and has now succeeded in penetrating new markets in the Middle East such as Saudi Arabia.
"We succeeded in making a new product, namely yarn for making prayer mats," said Jefri.
Jefri said the demand for yarn processed from textile waste was increasing rapidly even though the Covid-19 pandemic still existed until now.
"The market demand for this type of product is quite large, especially in the Middle East market," he said.
The Company receives requests for the Sejadah yarn from the State with the nickname "Oil Country" as many as 15-20 containers per month.
"After going through a long process of quality checking and negotiations, we were finally chosen as their first yarn supplier (customer) in Indonesia," he said.
"We also initially did not expect the demand to be this much even though this year's Umrah was canceled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. So we are very optimistic for the future, especially after Umrah activities are held again."
